Before and After
Just what it sounds like — before-and-after shots of completed interior and landscape design projects.

Color Cards
Color schemes derived from images I select, many of which are inspired by nature — which always has a way of balancing itself and never goes out of style.

Design Takes
Design tips and tricks I discover as I work to refresh and revive our home.

Home Sweet Home
The before, the after — and mostly the in-between — of the new home my husband and I share.

Trendcasting
A collection of images that represents the “of-the-moment” design trends that I’m seeing oh-so everywhere.

Farm and Market
From organic farms and open-air markets to grocery stores and roadside vegetable stands, this series takes you there — and it brings you into our kitchen, where that good food ends up.

The Art of Eating In
An exploration of healthy, easy-to-prepare plant-rich meals using whole foods that are locally or regionally sourced whenever possible.

Party of Two
A series on local and regional eateries my husband and I frequent whose menus are bursting with healthy selections.

The Food Files
The lowdown on individual foods and their roles in promoting — or inhibiting — wellness and preventing disease.

Day Trips
Whether it’s a walk to our lovely downtown or a drive along the Columbia River Gorge, this series covers all the day trips, stayjourns and weekend getaways my husband and I take as we explore near and far.

History and Lore
A little fact, a little fiction. A little myth, a little mystery. Our area is loaded with historical treasures and brimming with folk stories waiting to be told (and heard).

Talk of the Town
A bank robber escaping the scene on a bicycle? A camel named Izzy posing in a Nativity display? This series shares snapshots of local charms and quirks — as seen in area papers, on craigslist and freecycle, and with my own two eyes.

American Life in Poetry
Ted Kooser introduces contemporary American poems in which authors convey facets of the human experience, often by way of rural and natural themes.

American Sentences
This 17-syllable, single-sentence poetic form was devised by Allen Ginsberg as a uniquely American form of poetry. In this series, I try my hand at using the American Sentence to convey a strong sense of place, both literal and metaphorical.

Noticing Journal
Journal entries in which I recruit all my senses to take in the world and act as a witness to whatever I see, hear, feel, taste and touch.

Random Acts of Poetry
My take on random acts of kindness, but with a poetry twist. Acts can range from handing out Easter eggs filled with spring-themed verses to giving away wallet-sized poems so folks are ready for National Poem in Your Pocket Day.

The Writing Life
Glimpses at what it means to move through the world as a writer. (Hint: It’s not as glamorous as you might think!)

Eco-Chic
Cleaning, designing, consuming and living in a way that has a lower impact on the planet.

Garden Sweet Garden
This series documents our attempts to create ornamental and edible gardens — with an emphasis on the word “attempts.”

Life on Two Wheels
Oh, the places you can go — on a bicycle.

On the Make
I’m no crafter, but I do occasionally make a thing or two. When that happens, I’ll share the results in this series (unless the results are really bad).

A Present Mind
This column is my attempt to become more fluent with regard to spiritual matters. I hope to deepen my understanding of socially engaged spirituality and to start each week in the right frame of mind (and heart and soul).

Spirit Guides
Teachers and teachings that inspire me to more deeply consider what it means to be human, and what responsibilities we have to each other and the world.

The Spirit That Moves Me
A collection of my experiences and observations as I attempt to move through the world with greater spiritual grounding.
