I found this image over at Pinterest last week and was immediately drawn to the way the stoic warm neutrals play against the sassy greens and blues. When creating this palette, I emphasized the image’s muted colors, but you could also play up the vibrant ones. Or consider using the muted colors in one room and the vibrant ones in another. The effect would be two distinct spaces that still manage to relate to one another.
I like how the palette turned out, and I very much appreciate the way the shapes and textures in the image help bring the design to life. When planning a space, it can be helpful to find things in your home that you love and have collected over time. Whether it be a small sculpture, your favorite mug or a textile you wear or have on display, these pieces can be gathered together to not only guide your color choices but also remind you to think of shape, texture, sheen, scale and balance as you create your new space or revamp a current one.
